About Us

Company Background

Cerebyte, Inc. was originally founded in 1997 by William Seidman (Bill) and Michael McCauley (Mike) to develop technology that coached teams through comprehensive project thinking and decision-making.The technology was immediately successful and was quickly adopted by companies such as Intel, Tektronix, Hewlett-Packard, 3Com, and Collagen Aesthetics, Inc. as their corporate standard for managing projects.

Throughout the years, the Cerebyte solution has been continuously enhanced, most recently incorporating the latest research in fair process, positive deviance, mass customization and neuroscience. The unique combined capabilities of our management team create a rare synergy. Few organizations have the depth of expertise required to develop and utilize software that directly creates sustainable organizational change.

Cerebyte's industry-leading solution has been used in a wide array of companies including restaurant management, wealth management, specialty apparel management, insurance, biotechnology and semiconductor development, just to name a few. The Cerebyte process is now being implemented by change agents throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe and the Far East.

Company Leadership

William Seidman, PhD.
Chief Executive Officer and President

William (Bill) Seidman is a recognized thought leader and expert on management decision-making and Executive Leadership. In particular, Dr. Seidman is renowned for understanding the processes required to harvest and use expert knowledge.

Bill's doctorate is from Stanford where he spent eight years studying management decision-making. As part of his doctoral dissertation, he developed a groundbreaking technique for analyzing management decision-making behaviors. The technique enables the examination of decision-making and expert functions down to the single word or single behavior level. The technique is the core of Cerebyte's Executive Leadership Technology, enabling Cerebyte to systematically examine complex management processes and reduce them to a few, easily automated 'best practices.' This technology has been recognized by KMWorld, The Innovation Center, IDC and others as the leading capability for gathering top performer's tacit knowledge, including their underlying passion, and obtaining almost immediate behavior change by less experienced personnel using that knowledge.

Bill's credentials extend far beyond academia. He has more than 20 years experience as a manager of profit and loss centers in high technology companies including Hewlett-Packard, Silicon Graphics, Mentor Graphics, and Integrated Project Systems, a Silicon Valley consulting company. As a manager, consultant and later as the Co-Founder and CEO of Cerebyte, he led engagements for Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Jack in the Box, Compaq, Dell Computer, Novell Systems, McGhan Medical, Tektronix, Nike, Monitor Consulting, Cato Corporation, CVS Pharmacies, Texas Instruments, Intel, AMD, Arthur Andersen, Sears, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Unifi, Lifetouch, Harvard Business School, University of Minnesota and many others. He is an experienced consultant and manager of fast growth, high technology environments.

Michael McCauley
Vice President, Product Development

Michael (Mike) McCauley is the recognized leader in the design and development of Executive Leadership software. Prior to co-founding Cerebyte, Mike had more than 20 years experience as a manager, lead engineer, and senior consultant. As part of that experience, he led numerous high performance teams focused on enhancing product development processes at leading-edge companies such as Compaq Computer, Dell Computer, Motorola, Pacific Bell, Novell, LSI Logic, 3Com, Pacific Gas and Electric, Ameriserve, Chevron, DuPont, Xerox, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.

Building on his extensive background as an engineer and management process consultant, Mike has developed the unique ability to translate the best practices identified by Dr. Seidman's technique into a logical sequence of 'guided' steps, and then systematically implement those steps in software. As Co-Founder and Vice President of Product Development at Cerebyte, he has designed and orchestrated the development of the company's flagship Executive Leadership Technology products. Previously, while Vice President of Product Development at Integrated Project Systems, he developed the first systematic process for determining the maturity of project management processes within organizations. His pioneering work in this field later became the foundation for an extensive and on-going study of project management maturity conducted by the Project Management Institute and U.C. Berkeley.
